Wednesday’s performance of Swan Lake finally brought an excitement that is often missing on an opening. Central to this is Kolesnikova. She is something that people seldom get to see here and probably never will again.

With such artistry no one has the right to say that classical ballet is deal.

She is a true vision of poise and movement. Every arm, leg, foot and head; every body movement looks as if it comes naturally to her. Her flowing technique is hypnotic. The whole body becomes part of the movement not just an arm or leg –magnificent!

You don’t see her dancing as technical body movements- she becomes part of the characters emotions – an experience that could only lead to a standing ovation. Her Odette is Magnificent.

The Black Swan brought an exciting contrast. Although one would wish her movement to be stronger.

Akulinin as her partner was a sympathetic dancer with strong leaps and flowing movements.

Dymchyk Saykeev was a strong Rothbart and Dmitry Shevtsov as the Jester was surprisingly strong and athletic.

The corps de ballet came up with disciplined work and the pas de trios in Scene I was bewitching.

The electronic harp was wonderful and apart from a few wrong notes the Orchestra was at its best.

One cannot dare miss the chance to see Swan Lake and should travel the extra miles to see Kolesnkikova in action.
