DANCE delivers occasional moments of such transcendent beauty that they are forever cherished as the amber of memory. Such was Irina Kolesnikova`s Odette, in act two of the St Petersburg Ballets current production of SWAN LAKE.
Her limpid purity in this lake scene is all vulnerable innocence and we suspend belief, in this improbable boymeets-bird scene, because of her shimmering intensity. Her expression is delicately anguished, with Garboesque brows knitted above a vulnerable neck, as she beats her wings in response to Siegfrieds unlikely suit.
