SEENG Irina Kolesnikova, the principal dancer of the St. Petersburg Ballet Theater, performing Odette-Odile in Swan Lake is one of those rare and beautiful moments of theatre ...
..................................
But it was Kolesnikova`s performance that set the ballet alight from her very first entrance.
The languorous quality of her dancing as Odette, the Swan Queen , her gently averted face and downcast eyes coupled with an astounding technique made the pas-de-deux in act one truly memorable .
The synchronization of her dancing with the music, played by the Wellington Sinfonia and conducted by Vladimir Vais , was a true partnership between the artist and conductor. It gave Kolesnikova the freedom to draw out and define her movements as the spirit moved her.
..................................
Here, Kolesnikova gave a glittering , hard - edged interpretation to Odile, tossing off her 32 fouettes with complete ease and tossing her head with a smile of jubilation .»
