During Haute Couture Week in Paris a fashion collection will be shown which is dedicated to one of Russian ballet’s most talented representatives, namely the Saint Petersburg ballerina, Irina Kolesnikova.
The Saint Petersburg Ballet Theatre’s press office has informed “Rosbalt” that the famous French couturier Jean Doucet had the idea after he had seen Swan Lake brilliantly performed by the Prima Ballerina in Paris.
The sell-out tour had come to Paris, which, one hundred years ago, had been captivated by Sergei Diaghilev’s Russian ballets.
The couturier was so impressed by the combination of Kolesnikova’s brilliant talent and amazing charisma with a wonderful classical ballet education and supreme natural talent, that the idea took fire within him of creating a collection, which would combine the past and the present of Russian classical dance, its bygone glories and its present day triumphs. The couturier is now planning to come to Saint Petersburg where his heroine resides.
“I absolutely must breathe the Saint Petersburg air”, said the designer who looks for inspiration in all four corners of the world.
The first sketches have already been done. Now they need to be discussed with Irina and fittings need to take place; after all, Irina will be the pearl of the catwalk procession in Paris during Haute Couture Week.
The Irina Kolesnikova and Russian ballets collection will be shown on 24th January 2013 in the Châtelet Theatre. The choice of venue is no accident since it was in this theatre that the famous Diaghilev seasons took place a century ago.
